Navarro ISD Announces 2025 Salutatorian: Giovanna Coello

GERONIMO, TX – May 13, 2025 – Navarro ISD is proud to announce Giovanna Coello as the Salutatorian of the graduating class of 2025. This prestigious honor recognizes Giovanna's outstanding academic and extra-curricular achievements, and her commitment to excellence.
When asked about being named Salutatorian, Giovanna described the honor as a representation of hard work and dedication emphasizing that the position demands commitment and striving for excellence. "To me, being salutatorian of my class means proudly representing my school community and being a role model to those around me."
Giovanna reflected on her high school experience as both challenging and rewarding, a journey that not only tested her but also strengthened her core values. "It was never easy," she said, "and I often felt tested by the high standards and expectations of my teachers that the great Navarro High School is known for." She emphasized that her personal values—"hard work, honesty, integrity, discipline, and maintaining balance” —were essential in achieving this milestone which she said, “wasn’t merely handed to me."
Beyond her academic achievements, Giovanna has been deeply involved and highly successful through Navarro FFA and Varsity Tennis which she said has led to long-lasting connections. “The experiences, skills, and character I have gained from these activities will be ones I will carry with me forever, and have truly helped shape the person I am today. Even when faced with undesirable outcomes, I wouldn't take any of them back because I wouldn't be the person I am today and where I am without them."
Looking ahead, Giovanna plans to attend Texas A&M in College Station to study Ecology, Conservation Biology and Zoology (vertebrate track). Before that, she will embark on a European trip with her AP III English class, visiting London, Scotland, and France, and will also travel to Honduras to visit family.
For Giovanna, the enduring friendships formed at Navarro High School are among her most treasured takeaways. "It would have been really difficult to get through high school without my fun, crazy, and supportive group of friends," she acknowledged. "They allowed me to be myself, and I will always cherish that." Reflecting on her overall experience, she stated, "The classes and activities I was involved in exposed me to a group of people I would have never known I could connect with so closely. I will always think of Navarro as the doorway to a world of close and life-long friends."
Navarro ISD congratulates Giovanna Coello on this well-deserved honor and wishes her continued success as she pursues her collegiate journey at Texas A&M University. She will address her fellow graduates, faculty, and families at the Navarro High School commencement ceremony on May 23, 2025, at Erwin-Lee Stadium.
