Navarro Dance Department
We offer dance classes at the Junior High and High School level (grades 7-12).
We also have competitive teams at both the junior high and high school levels: The NHS Dazzlers and the NJH Stargazers.

Dazzlers
The Dazzlers are the Navarro High School Dance Teams. We have a Varsity and a JV team for grades 9-12. Both teams perform at sporting events, pep rallies, community events, and competitions throughout the year. To learn more about our teams, please see all of the information listed below.
The Dazzlers were established in 2006 with 17 members. The directors were Suzanne Felis and Nicole Balderas. To see a more in-depth look into our history, please click on the link below:
The Dazzlers Dance Teams are under the directon of Michelle Conaway. Michelle is a graduate of Texas State University where she obtained her BFA in Dance with an emphasis in Education. She also attended Trinity Valley Community College and was a member of the Cardettes Dance Team for two years, serving as Lieutenant her sophomore year. Coach Conaway was a member of her high school dance team, the Brenham Belles, for four years and served as a Social Officer her junior year as well as Captain her senior year. Michelle has been directing the Dazzlers since 2019 and also started Navarro ISD’s first dance classes the same year. She has grown the dance department to include both high school and junior high classes as well as contributing to the growth of the NISD dance teams.

Tryout Information

Tryout Information
- Tryouts for both JV and Varsity Dazzlers will be held in the spring semester typically in March or April.
Tryout Qualifications
- Must be a current 8th-11th grade student enrolled in Navarro ISD by the first day of the tryout clinic.
- Must attend one tryout meeting with a parent/legal guardian.
- Must attend all days of the tryout clinic in its entirety.
- May not be in ISS or DAEP at the time of the tryout clinic.
- Must be academically UIL eligible in order to attend the tryout clinic and the tryout day.
- Prior dance experience is suggested but not required.
Meeting Dates
- Meetings will be held in-person starting as early as January.
- More information will be announced at a later date.
Candidates will only need to attend one meeting to be eligible to try out for Dazzlers V/JV. A parent or legal guardian must be in attendance. Requirement, financial and supply information will be discussed at the meeting.
Stargazers
The Stargazers are the Navarro Junior High Dance Team that includes grades 6-8. Stargazers perform at sporting events, pep rallies, community events, and competitions throughout the year. To learn more about our junior high dance team, please see the information listed below.
