Why CTE?
Career and Technical Education programs offer a sequence of courses that provides students with coherent and rigorous content. CTE content is aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in current or emerging professions.
Our Mission:
In support of the Navarro ISD Mission and the TEA State Plan for Career and Technical Education. The NISD Career and Technical Education (CTE) department will cultivate future-ready graduates who are prepared for successful transitions into post-secondary opportunities through practical skill development and industry alignment.
Our Vision:
The Navarro CTE vision is to cultivate innovative thinkers and responsible leaders, who are equipped with expertise and skills, plus adaptability and resilience to thrive in a competitive, diverse, ever-changing global economy. Through excellence in education, community engagement, innovation, and holistic development, we strive to empower students to become contributing members of society, ready to make a positive impact on the world.
Programs of Study
Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs offer a coherent sequence of courses that provide students with rigorous college and career-specific content that offers industry certifications, paid or unpaid work-based learning experiences, and/or dual credit opportunities upon completion of a program of study. CTE content is aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in current or emerging professions. Endorsements assigned to each Program of Study can be earned by completing three or more courses for four or more credits including one level three or four courses within the same CTE Program of Study and earning an Industry Based Certification (IBC). The following CTE section includes CTE Electives and the CTE Programs of Study offered at Navarro ISD. Each CTE Program of Study is aligned to a Graduation Plan with an Endorsement as well as an Industry-Based Certification (IBC) for a performance acknowledgment. The charts in the CTE Programs of Study lay out the coherent sequence of courses required for each Program of Study. Specific course offerings and availability are subject to change due to interest and enrollment.
Career & Technical Student Organizations (CTSO)
The United States Department of Education (USDE) recognizes the value of Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) and their place as an integral part of Career and Technical Education (CTE). The responsibility for CTE instructional programs and related activities, including CTSOs, rests with state and local education agencies. The USDE allows states to use federal Carl D. Perkins funds to provide leadership and support for CTSOs.
The State of Texas and the Texas Education Code also recognizes the value of career and technical student organizations by emphasizing the importance of “participation by students and teachers in activities of career and technical student organizations supported by the agency and the State Board of Education (Sec. 29.182).”
