Closure/Delay Procedures
Plans to Close or Delay School (Day Before)
If there is certainty in the weather forecast and its impact on safety, a decision to cancel school or have a delayed start will be made the day before. As the weather changes, there is always the possibility that normal school operations may be impacted, and will notify families and staff as soon as possible.
In making the decision to close or delay school in advance, these procedures will be followed:

As needed, the Superintendent will consult with one or any of the Austin-San Antonio National Weather Service, Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office or Emergency Management, ESC Region 20, and neighboring Superintendents for collaboration and unified response when possible.

Upon the final decision, The Superintendent will immediately notify Trustees, Campus Principals, Transportation, Communications Officer and Director of Safety & Security.

The Director of Communications will send out a message alert to all parents and staff via district communications app, as well as social media and website.
Closure or Delay Procedures (Day of)
If there is unforeseen weather impacts or extreme changes in forecast, such as the timing or serverity of the weather, a decision to delay or cancel school that day may be necessary.
The same procedures used for day before school closure will be used in determining a day of closure or 2 hour delay, and the same notification procedures will be used. In addition, radio and television stations may also be notified if needed. Day of closure or delayed starts will be sent out to parents and staff no later than 5:30 AM.
