Launch of Historical Committee

Navarro ISD is excited to announce the formation of a Historical Committee, an initiative dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history and traditions of the Panther community.

This new committee seeks the help of dedicated community members to gather, organize, and showcase the district's extensive history, with a major focus on curating display cases in our schools, especially in anticipation of the opening of our new high school facility this January.

The primary mission of the Historical Committee is two-fold:

  1. Gather and Preserve: Committee members will assist the district in the crucial task of assessing the district’s stored collection, and seek acquisition of historical information if needed such as artifacts, photographs, and school memorabilia from Navarro ISD’s past. These items could range from vintage yearbooks and athletic gear to old classroom records and newspaper clippings.
  2. Curate and Display: Once collections are organized, the committee will play a vital role in sorting and selecting items to be featured in curated display cases across our campuses. This effort will ensure the legacy of Navarro ISD is visible and accessible to current and future generations of students, staff, and visitors.

In addition to artifact preservation, committee members will be invited to share their personal stories and memories as part of an exciting video documentary. This video will capture the history and heart of Geronimo through the voices of the people who lived it, offering a compelling visual history for the community.

Navarro ISD is looking for an enthusiastic group of volunteers to serve on this committee. We strongly encourage applications from:

  • Navarro ISD Alumni (from all graduating classes)
  • Current Navarro ISD Families and Staff
  • Local Historians and Community Members

This is a unique opportunity to leave a lasting mark on the district by ensuring that the stories, achievements, and artifacts that define the Navarro Panther spirit are permanently honored.

If you have a passion for history, a personal connection to Navarro ISD, and are interested in volunteering your time and expertise, we want to hear from you! Join us in building a bridge from our proud past to our exciting future!
