GERONIMO, TX – June 11, 2025 – The Navarro Independent School District (NISD) proudly announces that its Child Nutrition Department, under the exceptional leadership of Director Carlette Drabek, has been awarded the prestigious "Cream of the Crop" honor by Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller at the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) MegaCon on Friday, May 23, 2025. This groundbreaking achievement recognizes NISD's unparalleled commitment to student nutrition and marks a significant milestone in the department's history of excellence.

For the past 12 consecutive years, Navarro ISD's Child Nutrition team consistently earned the "Best of the Bunch" award, the TDA's Tier 1 recognition for meeting rigorous criteria during the month of October. This year, the TDA elevated its standards, introducing the "Cream of the Crop" award as its highest distinction, signifying a much more challenging set of criteria for recipients to meet.

"I was truly blessed and humbled to receive the 'Cream of the Crop' award from Commissioner Sid Miller," stated Carlette Drabek, Director of Child Nutrition Services for Navarro ISD. "This award is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire Child Nutrition team. They consistently go above and beyond to provide nutritious and delicious meals for our students, and their commitment to excellence is truly inspiring."

The "Cream of the Crop" award highlights organizations that have demonstrated exceptional leadership and innovation in promoting Texas-grown foods, integrating agricultural education, and actively engaging with their communities. Navarro ISD's Child Nutrition Department's consistent pursuit of excellence has not only met but exceeded these elevated expectations.
