Navarro High School Band Achieves Record-Breaking All-Region Success

GERONIMO, TX – December 11, 2025 – The Navarro High School (NHS) Band program has set a new standard for achievement, with 18 students earning positions in the prestigious Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) All-Region Band. The All-Region auditions took place on Saturday, December 6, pitting over 400 students from 23 band programs in Region 12 against one another.
This year’s results represent a significant increase in student honors, building on a strong foundation from previous years where ten students earned region honors in each of the past two years, and five students achieved the honor in 2022.
The ATSSB, a division of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), provides educational and performance opportunities for Texas school band programs classified 4A and below.
To earn a chair in one of the two All-Region Bands (Symphonic Band or Concert Band), students prepared two contrasting and challenging assigned music pieces, along with a full regimen of scales. Students were evaluated and ranked through a blind, individual audition before a panel of five judges.
The successful All-Region Band members will participate in a clinic and rehearsal on Monday, December 15, led by special guest clinicians. The rehearsal will culminate in a public concert performance at Davenport High School at 6:30 p.m. that evening.
Further demonstrating the program's strength, seven NHS students qualified for advancement to the ATSSB Area Auditions. These high-placing students will travel to Corpus Christi on January 10th to compete against top performers from across the state. Students who place at the very top of the Area Auditions will earn a chair in a Texas All-State Band.
“We are extremely pleased with the hard work and dedication of the students, and very appreciative of the extra support provided to the students from a newly implemented music enrichment program of masterclasses.” said Mr. Jason Adam, Navarro ISD Director of Fine Arts and Head Band Director. “All students that auditioned represented both Navarro High School and Navarro ISD very well, and we wish the best to the students that are advancing to the next level.”
