Navarro ISD Reports Strong Academic Gains and Outlines Future Goals in Annual TAPR Report

GERONIMO, TX – March 25, 2026– Navarro Independent School District (NISD) released its 2024-2025 Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR) during a public hearing on March 23, 2026, highlighting significant student achievement across all subjects and a clear roadmap for future college and career readiness. The report, updated by the Texas Education Agency as of January 2026, serves as a comprehensive look at the district’s financial and educational performance and student demographics.
Exceeding Regional and State Averages
The 2024-25 TAPR data reveals that Navarro ISD students consistently outperform both regional and state averages in core academic areas:
- Overall Performance: Navarro ISD earned a “B” rating in all grades and all subjects, while 79% of NISD students performed at the "Approaches Grade Level or Above" standard, compared to 74% in the region and 75% across the state.
- FIRST Rating: Navarro ISD achieved a rating of an “A” for Superior Achievement under the School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) for the 2024-2025 school year. This designation is the highest possible rating, reflecting the district’s exceptional financial management and operational practices.
- ELA/Reading: The district achieved an 80% success rate in Reading, exceeding the state average of 76%.
- Mathematics: Navarro ISD saw 79% of students approach grade level or above, significantly higher than the state’s 72% average.
- Science: District students maintained 80% approaching grade level, compared to the state’s 78%.
Meeting House Bill 3 Goals
The district remains focused on the long-term goals established by House Bill 3, with current tracking showing steady progress toward high-level proficiency:
- 3rd Grade Literacy: Currently, 67% of 3rd graders are scoring at "Meets Grade Level" or higher on the STAAR Reading Assessment.
- 3rd Grade Math: 51% of 3rd-grade students are reaching the "Meets Grade Level" benchmark in Math.
- College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR): With a final 2028 goal of 95%, the district is already projecting a 90% CCMR rate for the Class of 2026.
Excellence in High School Achievement
A standout achievement is Navarro High School’s Distinction Designation for Academic Growth. This prestigious recognition places Navarro High School in the top 25% of its comparison group, and proudly, it ranked among the top 5 out of 40 schools in this group. This significant accomplishment highlights the focused efforts on increasing academic rigor and meeting student needs to cultivate academic growth for all students at Navarro High School.
End-of-Course (EOC) assessments further highlight the district's academic strength:
- Biology: An impressive 95% of students approached grade level or above, with 69% reaching the "Meets" standard.
- U.S. History: Success remains nearly universal, with 96% of students approaching grade level and 73% achieving the "Meets" benchmark.
- English Language Arts: English II students showed notable strength, with 83% approaching grade level and 65% meeting grade-level standards.
