Navarro ISD Community Approves $65 Million Bond to Support District Growth and Infrastructure

GERONIMO, TX – May 4, 2026 – Navarro Independent School District is grateful to announce the passage of the 2026 Bond Proposition A. Following the local election held on Saturday, May 2, unofficial results indicate that the community has voiced its support for the $65 million proposal aimed at addressing the district’s rapid growth and evolving facility development.
Guadalupe County Elections Office provided the unofficial voting results for Proposition A—including early voting, election day, and absentee ballots—stand at:
- For: 282 or 58.14%
- Against: 202 or 41.65%
The approval of Proposition A allows Navarro ISD to move forward with reinvestment and expansion projects. Key priorities include creating additional classroom and cafetorium space at the Junior High, purchasing additional buses, and constructing secure parking for the transportation fleet. The bond also funds infrastructure updates, such as parking and drainage, new roofing and HVAC systems for the Annex and the current Elementary School, both of which are slated to become the district’s Early Childhood Center. The Junior High secondary gym, formerly known as the Event Center, will also receive updates to expand locker rooms spaces and updated fixtures and finishes.
Superintendent Dr. Mandy Epley emphasized that this victory is a big win for our students for the district’s long-term development. “I am extremely grateful for all of the stakeholders that took the time to get out and vote,” said Dr. Epley. “For us, the next phase is starting reinvestment and expansion of the district that we know will mean quality learning environments for our rapidly growing student population. It really is about the positive development of the district, continuous improvement, and responsible reinvestment of our taxpayers’ dollars.”
Acknowledging the diverse perspectives within the community, district leadership expressed a firm commitment to maintaining public trust. To ensure every dollar is spent as promised, the district will call for the re-convening of the Bond Oversight Committee this fall, welcoming community members to participate in the process of design, visioning and programming recommendations to the Board of Trustees for projects within the 2026 Bond.
“We’re excited to move forward, but we know there are some folks who were skeptical,” Dr. Epley added. “We will continue to be transparent through our Bond at Work website highlighting monthly contractor reports, committee updates, photos, and drone footage of the projects. We take the faith and trust of our taxpayers very seriously, and we show proof that we are accountable for the work we are doing with their tax dollars on our website, in our monthly district newsletter, and quarterly Panther Progress publications.”
School Board President Melissa Sartain echoed the sentiment of progress and responsibility. “This vote represents a milestone for Navarro ISD,” said Sartain. “The Board of Trustees thanks our community and we will remain dedicated to ensuring these projects are delivered with the highest level of integrity. We are ready to get to work for our students, staff, and the entire Heart of Geronimo community.”
The Navarro ISD Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting to canvass the official election results on May 13 at 5:30 p.m. at Navarro High School.
