  • Navarro ISD began using Xello, an online K-12 curriculum that puts the student at the center of their planning experience.

Xello is a college and career readiness app that creates a personalized student portfolio based on their unique learning styles and interests to connect them with career options.

    With Xello:

    • We will be able to fully engage students in building the skills, knowledge, and plans for future success.
    • Students will be able to document their journey as they build self-knowledge, explore post-secondary options, continuously take career interest inventory surveys, create plans, and begin implementing their plans before graduation.
    • Students can continually reassess as they take in new knowledge, skills, and experiences and build upon their preparation by maintaining portfolios, resumes and applications.

  • Navarro ISD is excited to introduce CareerCraft, a valuable tool designed to support your student's journey towards college, career, and military readiness (CCMR). This online platform, used for students in 8th through 12th grade, helps us track their progress in Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs of study.

    How CareerCraft Benefits Your Student:

    • Personalized Guidance: CareerCraft allows counselors and the Academic Dean to monitor your student's progress, categorizing them as an Explorer, Participant, Concentrator, or Completer within their chosen CTE pathway. This detailed tracking informs their annual 4-year planning meetings and helps develop personalized Graduation Plans (PGPs).
    • Informed Course Selection: Starting in 8th grade, counselors use CareerCraft data to guide conversations with students and parents, ensuring informed decisions about course selections that align with their goals.
    • CCMR Tracking: The platform provides real-time insights into your student's progress toward College, Career, and Military Readiness. This allows the CCMR Leadership team to identify students who may need additional support and develop targeted interventions before their senior year.
    • Clear Progress Reports: CareerCraft generates individual student reports, detailing their CCMR credit earnings and any Industry-Based Certifications (IBCs) they have obtained.

CareerCraft empowers students and parents with the information needed to make strategic decisions about their education and future. By providing early insights and personalized guidance, Navarro ISD is committed to helping every student achieve their full potential and be prepared for success after graduation.

  • In the spring semester, the secondary campus counselors, with the support of campus administrators and district leaders, will hold personal graduation planning meetings with all students, grades 8-12, and their guardians. During these meetings, students and families will receive a packet of resources, guides, checklists, and software applications to help them with their planning, course selection, and future path decisions following high school.

Counselors support planning by assisting students in the process of:

    • Reviewing completed courses and current courses, and making plans for the following year.
    • Creating a Personalized Graduation Plan that will engage parents in the conversation about course selections, graduation endorsements, and opportunities for Advanced Academics.
    • Receiving a copy of the Personal Graduation Plan to review, sign and return to the counselor.
    • Receiving information for Post Graduation Prep with timelines and resources for scholarships, financial aid, assessments, and more.

In the spring, Navarro Junior High eighth graders embarked on an exciting exploration of the diverse Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Fine Arts programs available at Navarro High School. Led by the CTE Department and new CTE Director, Melissa Gossett, the inaugural Junior High Tours provided an immersive experience for students to "prowl" for electives prior to 8th Grade Parent Night.

Students have the unique opportunity to hear directly from current high school CTE and Fine Arts students, who showcased their chosen programs of study, career and technical student organizations, and fine arts courses. These presentations offered valuable insights into daily high school class routines and the myriad opportunities awaiting them. Following the student tours, an 8th Grade Parent Night allows parents to connect with teachers, learn about the curriculum, and prepare for their student’s Personal Graduation Plan (PGP) and four-year planning meetings. The station rotations from the student tours were also present at the parent night.

This combined effort fostered meaningful conversations between parents and students, empowering them to make informed decisions about their academic pathways. We appreciate the support of our parents, teachers, and high school students in making this initiative a resounding success. By providing our eighth graders with this valuable firsthand experience, we are collaboratively supporting their vision for academic success and ensuring they are ready for enrollment, enlistment, or employment upon graduation
