Navarro High School Earns Prestigious Academic Growth Distinction

GERONIMO, TX – August 15, 2025 – In a return to critical transparency for Texas families and communities, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) today released both the 2025 A-F Accountability ratings and the previously delayed 2024 ratings.
The TEA’s A–F Accountability System, established in 2017 by the 85th Texas Legislature, provides information on school performance in three key areas: Student Achievement, School Progress, and Closing the Gaps. Designed to drive continuous improvement, the system helps ensure all students, regardless of background, receive an education that prepares them for postsecondary success.
A standout achievement is Navarro High School’s Distinction Designation for Academic Growth. This prestigious recognition places Navarro High School in the top 25% of its comparison group, and proudly, it ranked among the top 5 out of 40 schools in this group. This significant accomplishment highlights the focused efforts on increasing academic rigor and meeting student needs to cultivate academic growth for all students at Navarro High School.
“This recognition is a direct reflection of our strong family partnerships and the unwavering dedication and hard work of our teachers and staff across the entire district," said Superintendent Dr. Mandy Epley. “It is evidence of our commitment to ensuring all students have access to a high-quality education that prepares them for success.”
While celebrating this achievement, the district remains focused on aiming for a higher rating. Wendy McMullen, Chief Academic Officer, stated, “While our district's overall rating improved, we continue to strive towards our goal of achieving an A rating. Our academic services department and campus principals recently presented our action steps and strategies for a pathway to an A to the Board of Trustees.” The plan focuses on a multi-faceted approach, incorporating data-driven instruction, professional development, and targeted support for students at all levels to meet our academic growth goals. “Our teachers and support staff are all in on these plans, and we are committed to supporting each other to reach our goals for our Panthers not only this year, but throughout their academic journey.”
Navarro ISD remains committed to fostering an environment where every student can thrive. We invite our community to explore the detailed ratings for all school systems and campuses by visiting Texas Schools Search, or TX Research Portal. Families can also review the academic services presentation for targeted planning strategies for each campus.
