Student Chromebook Program & Device Protection

Navarro ISD is committed to providing our students with the technology they need for a successful learning experience. All students in 6th through 12th grade will receive a district-issued Chromebook at no cost for the 2025-26 school year.

Device Usage Agreement

Before students receive their devices, we ask that parents and students review and agree to the Device Usage Agreement during registration within the Parent Portal. This agreement outlines the terms and conditions for the responsible use of Navarro ISD devices, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment for all. As partners in educating our children, it's important that parents are aware of the importance of the devices to continue and support learning. We encourage you to have conversations at home about device care and respect for district property. Your support in emphasizing responsible use can significantly help us manage these expenses and ensure resources are maximized for student growth.

  • Cost: The price per student for the 2025-26 school year is $26.95. This slight increase reflects the rising cost of replacement parts.

    • Stolen Device*

*Please note: Lost chargers, lost devices, and stolen devices require a police report or a sworn affidavit from the parent for the insurance claim to be processed.

Cyber Security Awareness

What is Phishing?

Phishing is a cybercrime where scammers attempt to trick individuals into revealing sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, credit card numbers, and Social Security numbers. They often do this by sending emails that appear to be from legitimate sources, such as banks, social media platforms, or even the school district. These emails may contain malicious links or attachments that can infect devices with malware or steal personal information.

How to Identify a Phishing Email:

  • Check the sender's address carefully: Be wary of emails from addresses that look slightly different from the legitimate sender.

  • Look for suspicious language: Phishing emails often contain grammatical errors, urgent requests, or threats.

  • Be wary of urgent requests or threats: Legitimate institutions rarely use these tactics.

  • Hover over links before clicking: This will display the actual URL of the link, which may reveal a suspicious website.

  • Be cautious of attachments: Do not open attachments from unknown senders or if the attachment type is unexpected (e.g., .exe files).

What Steps Students Should Take:

  • Do NOT CLICK on any suspicious links or open any attachments.

  • Forward any suspicious emails to the Navarro ISD Technology Department at tech@nisd.us

  • Report it! Use the PhishNotify+ tool on your Google sidebar.

PhishNotify+ icon is pictured below and is available in the GMAIL app and web browser to allow quick and safe reporting of suspicious emails.

  • Monitor your child's online activity. Help them identify suspicious emails and websites.

  • Use strong, unique passwords for all online accounts.

  • Be wary of public Wi-Fi networks.
